To go along with my new Hyperion consulting company, I’ve decided to start this blog: The Finance side of Hyperion. Thanks to all of my friends and co-workers who have joined me to hear my ramblings. To those of you who don’t know me personally, thanks for checking this out.
Now that that’s out of the way. So what qualifies me for this? An MBA in Finance and IT (see Mom, I knew what I was doing even way back then). A dozen years in finance with various organizations and in a variety of positions followed by another dozen working exclusively in Hyperion. Sometimes reporting to the IT department, and more often to finance. Most often acting as a bridge between the two to keep everyone happy.
I see this blog as a place to record some of the business problems that I’ve solved over the years. How to explain to IT that a balance sheet needs to be in balance (and to calculate the out of balance if needed). How to convey the needs of the audience and to explain that in terms that the IT developers can work with. How to use that to get the best balance of results.
For those of you looking for Hyperion tips, check out Wayne’s blog, just one tab over on this very website.
Thanks for joining in, and stay tuned for more postings.
